When a few people were asked to share their thoughts on what Christmas means to them at the Christmas Day service 2016, Karen shared her thoughts in a poem.

To-ing and fro-ing
Coming and going
Indulgence, fussing and strife;
Amidst all the bling
No time for the King
And there, but for the grace of God, go I.

Feasting and sleeping
Toasting and greeting
Merriment, laughter and song;
Amidst all that they sin
No words for the King
And there, but for the grace of God, go I.

Sighing and trying
Inwardly crying
Filled with emptiness, no hope theme to cling;
Amidst all those things
No cry for the King
And there, but for the grace of God, go I.

Oh what peace we forfeit
When we simply forget
The King sent to earth, born to die;
For it's all due to him
Men are now heirs with the King
And so, by the grace of God, am I.
